What soul neglect looks like
Nobody decides to drift. It just happens quietly.
Running
on empty
You're doing the right things—church, service, family—and still feel thinner every month.
Drifting
without noticing
Nothing dramatic happened. The prayer just got shorter, then quieter, then optional.
Knowing about God, not knowing God
You can explain the faith. What you miss is the nearness you used to feel in it.
Spiritual growth isn't automatic. God makes; we shape. SoulShaping is how you cooperate with what the Spirit is already doing.
WHAT GETS IN THE WAY:
TIME
WORLDLY DISTRACTION
GUILT
PERFECTIONISM

SoulShaping: From Soul Neglect to Spiritual Vitality
SoulShaping (Second Edition) presents a readily accessible approach to the broad repertoire of spiritual disciplines that have nurtured God's people across the centuries so we can experience the abundant life Jesus died to make possible.
The 5 vital signs of spiritual vitality.
10 symptoms of soul neglect.
Written for busy people.
The book's content consists of three parts:
"Part One: From Soul Neglect to Spiritual Vitality" overviews the process of spiritual transformation. This section includes an assessment of a person's soul condition, the five vital signs of a healthy soul, five inadequate strategies for spiritual change, and the most energizing strategy of personal vision.
"Part Two: Pathways to Spiritual Vitality" presents a cluster of three spiritual disciplines to support each of the five vital signs of a healthy soul. The overview of fifteen spiritual disciplines provides a broad frame of reference for spiritual formation.
"Part Three: Walking Toward Spiritual Vitality" pulls together the information described in Parts One and Two so readers can develop their personalized soul plans. Having diagnosed their spiritual condition and learned about the resources for spiritual vitality, readers are introduced to the concepts of seasons of the soul and soul-specific disciplines so they can discern a schedule of spiritual disciplines that works best for them.

God Makes, We Shape.
SoulShaping Journal: Pathways to Spiritual Vitality
The SoulShaping Journal explores the five Vital Signs of Spiritual Health presented in SoulShaping (Second Edition). Rumford describes the vital signs in this way: We are spiritually healthy when God's pace redeems our time; God's presence fills our hearts; God's perspective renews our minds; God's power strengthens our wills; God's purpose directs our steps.
The material in the SoulShaping Journal is formatted for six days each week for 10 weeks.
Day 1 introduces the discipline(s) of the week.
Days 2-5 provide Scripture readings and journal prompts that relate to that week's discipline.
Day 6 is for reflection on what the reader is learning, both for that week and throughout the whole experience.
